WDS Construction Website

WDS Construction is a General Contractor and Commercial Construction company located in Wisconsin. WDS flexes its expertise in multiple types of builds: cold storage, commercial developments, schools, industrial facilities, medical facilities, restaurants, and retail buildings.

We had previously worked with WDS Construction on the development of their branding and asset creation, but after seeing the success the updated branding had brought them, they were ready to take the next step – a new website.

Design

WDS’s old website contained a lot of copy and the majority of the page elements were static on the page. Our first step in approaching these issues was developing a wireframe of the website. We decided with WDS on the pages that should make up the website and then began designing. Our goals were clear; limit copy, add in more visual content blocks, apply the new branding, and enhance the user experience. While reducing copy and adding more photos enhanced the user experience on the site, the addition of animations made the most significant impact. The animations help move the user throughout the page, and directs the user’s eye to buttons such as “learn more” or “submit”.

Development & Backend

WDS’s old site was slow in load time and allowed very few changes to be made after development. The team was unable to add new pages, which was an extreme pain point on their end. As a growing business that is consistently adding services, and venturing into new markets, they needed the flexibility to update their site. Our solution was to develop the site using plugins on Word Press. By hosting the site on Word Press, we were able to give the team at WDS the ability to add a page to the existing Services, Markets, and Project pages when need be. Word Press is also extremely user-friendly when it comes to Content Management Systems. Another issue we fixed in the development process was the speed of the site, we shrank down the load time and added page animations that would make the load time appear even shorter.

With an improved site, WDS gained a valuable tool in helping their business grow. The site prominently shares WDS’s brand, while also showing off all the work that WDS has done for its many satisfied clients.
